GEOfood is based on local, sustainable food, in areas of unique geological relevance. This is the official brand of products produced in UNESCO Global Geoparks. GEOfood brand and criteria are authorized only in Geoparks officially recognized by UNESCO.
For a product to be considered GEOfood it should demonstrate that is produced in a Geopark territory, with links to the historic and geological heritages from the area where it is produced.
The five Portuguese UNESCO World Geoparks have joined this brand, produced a national brochure and a common national regulation and are responsible for implementing and monitoring the brand in their territories.
