The Island Nature Parks: Corvo, Flores, Faial, Pico, São Jorge, Graciosa, Terceira, São Miguel and Santa Maria and the Marine Park of the Azores Archipelago, are the management unit of the Regional Network of Protected Areas Autonomous of the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
The Regional Network of Protected Areas of the Autonomous Region of the Azores implements in the Region the classification adopted by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), adapting it to the geographic, environmental, cultural and political-administrative particularities of the territory of the Azores archipelago.
The Island Nature Parks Island and the Azores Marine Park include also areas designated under European directives and international conventions.
